Presurgical Instructions

We require a recent physical exam and current vaccines for each surgical candidate.  We require any animal being anesthetized to undergo preliminary testing.  Our hospital uses isoflurane as our anesthetic gas, which is one of the safest anesthesias in use.  We understand the risk anesthesia presents to your pet, and our staff is trained in both physical and electronic monitoring methods to ensure safety during these procedures.

Routine procedures requiring anesthesia are performed on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Please remove all food after 8 pm the night before, unless instructed otherwise.  Water is typically okay until early (i.e. 5:30 am) the morning of the procedure.  Please drop off your pet between 7:30 am and 9:00 am unless other arrangements have been made with us.

Routine surgeries such as spays, neuters and dental cleanings  are usually discharged the same day as the procedure.  Cats undergoing a declaw surgery are kept overnight and released the next day.  If a case warrants continued care, arrangements can be made.
